The world’s biggest international airline, Emirates, and Olympique Lyonnais, one of France’s top football clubs, have announced a five-year sponsorship agreement.
As per the agreement, Emirates will become the club’s official main sponsor from the start of the 2020/2021 season. The iconic Emirates “Fly Better” logo will be shown in the front of the team’s training kits and playing jerseys for all the club’s matches, including the French Championship and European Cup.
Apart from being shirt sponsors, the agreement will give Emirates with highly visible branding in Groupama Stadium, hospitality, ticketing and other marketing agreements.
“It is Emirates’ long-standing strategy to engage and connect with our customers throughout the world through sports. This agreement is more than just a commercial deal, but also strengthen Emirates’ investment and economic contribution to both the Lyon region, and France as a whole, a country where we have been present for almost three decades. We are happy to have Olympique Lyonnais, a team that shows with fans both regionally and internationally, join our prestigious football sponsorship portfolio.” Said Sheikh Ahmed bin Saeed Al Maktoum, Emirates Group chairman and chief executive.
Emirates was the first airline to connect Lyon to UAE, and more deeply to the Middle East, Eastern Africa and the South Asian subcontinent through Dubai when it introduced direct flights in 2012. Emirates is also an important partner of sporting events across golf, tennis, rugby, cricket, horse racing and motorsports.
